Forged from a wrought iron chain link found in an old shipyard. This Nakiri has been made using a San Mai (3 layer) construction, the outer cladding being the wrought iron and 52100 carbon steel for the core. It features a forged distal taper with a brute de forge finish and a dark etch to distinguish the layers. The spine and choil have been rounded to ensure comfort whilst using the pinch grip. The octagonal handle was sculpted from ancient bog oak carbon dated between 3500-5000 years old, paired with a brown oak ferrule. All of our handles are finished with a food safe mineral oil and beeswax to protect the natural wood.

Inspired by traditional Japanese knives, the Nakiri is primarily used for preparing vegetables but also works brilliantly for mincing garlic and herbs. The flat cutting profile of the Nakiri makes it the ideal tool for tasks that require an up and down chopping motion, and the rectangular shape is great for scooping prepared ingredients off the chopping board.
