Forged from a wrought iron chain link found in an old shipyard. This Gyuto has been made using a San Mai (3 layer) construction, the outer cladding being the wrought iron and 52100 carbon steel for the core. It features a forged distal taper with a brute de forge finish and a dark etch to distinguish the layers. The spine and choil have been rounded to ensure comfort whilst using the pinch grip. The octagonal handle was sculpted from ancient bog oak carbon dated between 3500-5000 years old, paired with a brown oak ferrule. All of our handles are finished with a food safe mineral oil and beeswax to protect the natural wood.
Inspired by traditional Japanese knives, the Gyuto is a multipurpose chef’s knife which can be used on a variety of ingredients. The profile of the blade is ideal for precise and intricate cuts and can be used to perform many different cutting techniques.
